Trance healing –  where spirits work through the person in trance to heal others – has a long tradition in Brazil.  There many such healers throughout the country but perhaps the best known is John of God (João de Deus), who has a healing center in the small town of Abadiania, where he has seen millions of people from around the world.  I went  to Abadiania in 2003 and while there shot video with the intent of making a documentary about John of God.  But shortly thereafter ABC Primetime Live made him the subject of a two hour special, soon followed by a more in depth documentary on the Discovery Network and others did films on João as well.   So, instead, I edited the footage I had in to the short demo, below.
